Due to the continued support from JET and the Tower Project, Halima Khanom is now working as a Barista at E16 Café and Bakery, at ExCel London.

Having been trained at the Ocean View Cafe, one of the social enterprises we run, Halima will be using the skills she gained from the scheme to further herself. Robin Smith, Disability Employment Advisor at the Tower Project Job Enterprise and Training (JET), said that, “Halima is a really good barista, and she has impressed her manager and supervisor with the skills that she gained at our own training café – Ocean View Café. She has been supported by the Tower Project JET service through the schools program, then through our café training program and now into paid employment. The E16 café is the perfect work environment for Halima as she will have a chance to build upon her skills. Excel London Hospitality has been very accommodating and has been very keen to provide Halima with this great job opportunity.”

It is a smart little café and wine bar serving customers and exhibitors at the Excel Exhibition Centre. Halima is working for Excel London Hospitality, on a part time, shift basis. ExCeL London works in partnership with the Sports, Leisure and Hospitality sector of Compass Group UK & Ireland.
