Friday 31st March saw over 200 young people come through the doors of the Ecology Pavilion in Bow at the Job Information Day run by the JET service.

The day was a chance for young people with learning difficulties to see what industries or companies they wanted to get into. Ranging from cosmetics companies, television companies and sports companies, there was something for everyone and the day was enriched with enthusiasm for getting paid work.

The overall aim was for the young people to learn more about the companies in terms of the types of jobs employees do as well as seeing for themselves if it was something they could be doing careerwise.

With over 20 companies there, the wide range meant that everyone was satisfied. Mocktails and food were on offer as well and was a great way to showcase what the JET service has been achieving with their Social Enterprise scheme.

Mayor John Biggs attended the event too which gave the event an extra special community feel.

George Green School, Langdon Park School and Tower Hamlets College were amongst the schools who attended offering a wide range of young people coming through the doors.

Graham Smithers, Head of Services at JET said, “the event was brilliant and enjoyed by all. The event has grown a lot over the last few years and we are going strength to strength. The young people that attended all enjoyed it and I hope they have a better understanding of what career path they want to go down.”

The LED furniture was provided by chairhire.co.uk – a big thank you to them as the Mocktail bar was a huge success.

Lastly, a huge thank you to all the employers, schools, and staff who attended the event.
